What is Gab?
Gab is a social network that champions free speech, individual liberty and the free flow of information online. Gab Social launched August 15, 2016 and is a fresh take on one of the Internet's most popular applications: social networking and microblogging. Political speech protected by the First Amendment is welcome on this instance. Gab Social allows free (legal) speech, following legal guidelines as established by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Gab is the Free Speech social network. Our mission is to defend, protect and preserve free speech online for all. All are welcome.
We aim to:
1) Build scalable technology that empowers everyone to speak freely.
2) Take action to prevent and remove any illegal activity in our community.
3) Generate revenue to fund the development and growth of the platform and community.
How is Gab different from other microblogging social media sites?
Gab.com strives to be the home of free speech online. We work on Gab 100% of the time as our full-time jobs. We positively encourage you to join us on Gab.com. At Gab, we believe that the future of online publishing is decentralized and open. We believe that users of social networks should be able to control their social media experience on their own terms, rather than the terms set down by Big Tech.
Gab does not use algorithms to force content on you that gab thinks you will like. Other places use algorithms to "build engagement" and sell advertising" based upon your previous choices on their site. On Gab, you choose who to follow. This determines your gab experience and not an advertiser or an artificial algorithm.
How does Gab compare to other social media companies?
We are a younger company that is building a site without reliance on third parties for our services. Gab respects our valued customers and values the principles of Free Speech. We strive to provide a site without compromising your privacy, only asking for an email and password to create your account At Gab, you are a customer - not a user.
We have a free social media service that we provide for all to use legally. Our vision for paid Gab Pro subscription services is that you contribute not only to Gab, but to enable Free Speech for people around the world whose liberties and freedoms may not match those in the United States. Gab is a grass-roots company. We exist and pay our operational costs with Gab Pro subscriptions, donations and sales from the Gab Shop. Gab has no Big Tech money backers, angel investors or advertisers who may bring censorship influences to Gab and it's customers.
We strive to be upfront about our services, what is happening and how its handled.
